First time trying and food was really good and worth price! I spent about $18 because I purchased an extra side ($4 greens); the meal could be split into two if you eat smaller portions. Reason for 4 star: Air conditioning was broken, very limited seating, some pieces of beef were a bit too tough and greens were a tad too salty. I also encourage them to expand the non-soda drink offerings. Overall would check out again and recommend!

Tried this new lunch spot and YUM YUM YUMOOOO. The portions were generous and food was delish! I got the yellow rice with pork, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. Each item tasted it the way you expect it and when added together is just simply delish! and for what you get, the prices are very reasonable. Why not 5 stars? The last time I went around lunch time, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were both just sold out and they didn't have new ones. Was surprised that they didn't make more when there is a strong lunch crowd.

Food was amazing, they had a wide variety of plates and me, my dad and his buddy were on a road trip and happened to come across this place. They were closed but as we were walking back to the car someone welcomed us right in and served us. As we were on a road trip we were able to order the plates to go which was perfect.

Love this hidden gem! Excellent home cooking. I want to try other things there, but I always go back to the baked chicken. I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about--the baked chicken is tender and flavorful every time I order it. The mac and cheese is truly homestyle--the old fashioned kind I grew up eating in the south. The sauteed vegetables are always cooked to my liking: tender, but not unrecognizable, and full of flavor. Next I want to branch out to the pernil, fried fish and fried chicken! And who can beat the prices?!?!?! ::heart:: Carmen's.

Wow what a deal! How many places do you know where you can get a fried fish entree with THREE sides for under $14? Not many. In addition to being a great value, the food was flavorful and the portions were generous. I offered one fried fish combo meal and two sides of chicken (jerk chicken and fried chicken - protein only). I ordered on Grubhub and asked for the sides to each be packed separately and they followed my instructions. There was a line when I came in but I was able to pick up my food quickly. The restaurant is a tiny hole in the wall but the cashier was friendly and it seems like a nice neighborhood place. I haven't yet tried the jerk chicken but the fish was tasty and came with a few pieces. The rice was a little greasy for my taste. My husband, who had the fried chicken, said it was okay but not as seasoned as expected. Overall, for the price, I was very happy. I hope they can continue to keep prices low and deliver the same good food. The
